Camp Best, LPC
Camp Best is a seasoned Licensed Professional Counselor and mindfulness educator with multiple advanced degrees from the University of Mississippi, including a Master of Mental Health Counseling. Licensed since 2014, Nathan has dedicated his career to promoting student mental health and well-being. He served as an Academic Mentor and Instructor in the FASTrack Program at the University of Mississippi from 2015 until his retirement in 2023. Additionally, he worked as a Staff Counselor at the University Counseling Center and as a Student Advocate in the Vice Chancellor’s Office for Student Affairs. Camp is known for his advocacy of mindfulness and stress management, having presented to over 2,500 individuals and authored a chapter on mindfulness for The Ole Miss Experience textbook.
Camp’s expertise in mindfulness is supported by extensive training and certification in mindfulness-based stress reduction (MBSR) and KORU Mindfulness. He has led “Mindful Mondays” weekly meditation sessions since 2018 and integrated mindfulness practices into university curricula. Before his university tenure, Camp was the Executive Director of the Yoknapatawpha Arts Council and the Fondren Renaissance Foundation, where he managed community revitalization projects. His community involvement includes long-term service with the City of Oxford Historic Preservation Commission and the Mississippi Heritage Trust. Recognized in 2010 in Who’s Who Among Students in American Universities and Colleges, Camp continues to be a key advocate for mental health, mindfulness, and community engagement.
